Club Meeting -Parent Trust for Washington Children

February 19, 2020 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 am

Join us Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020 at the Shoreline Community College PUB. Our meeting starts at 7:00 AM with breakfast and camaraderie; our formal program starts at 7:30 AM.

Unfortunately, babies, toddlers and teenagers do not come with instruction booklets, and there isn’t even an all-inclusive manual you can download from an on-line resource. We don’t learn how to be good parents in high school classes, and there isn’t a college course we can take about how to live with and love our constantly clamoring offspring. Maybe we had Dr. Spock, and our own well-meaning parents if we were lucky, or a self-informed neighbor. Parent Trust for Washington Children was started to fill the gap that many young parents fall into. Their website, https://www.parenttrust.org/ tells us that “Parent Trust has created a statewide network of support, education and leadership programs for Washington’s families’ unique needs. …programs are designed to help parents and caregivers from when they’re preparing for their first newborn to when they’re dealing with the ongoing challenges of raising a family. (There are) learning and support programs for children and teens, too. We believe that families deserve support from ‘conception to college.’ ” Our guest speaker, Sarah Mace, the State Parent Program Manager for Parent Trust for Washington Children, will tell us about the programs offered by Parent Trust, and the real, day-to-day support they give to families. Sometimes a new parent just doesn’t know what to do with a crying baby – Parent Trust can help on their free telephone support line, or on their free database. Come and hear about this great organization and resource.
